What a concept!
Making a living on the internet?
If you've ever thought about starting an internet based business, Listen Up!
It's a long hard road and it's filled with frustration, expenses, legaleeze and time because if your going to be taken seriously you have to jump through a lot of hoops.
The good news is, that it can be done. There are people doing it right now. You can too! But... you have to be patient. The saying "the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step" is the key to success. You have to take a step in the direction you want to travel before you can arrive at your destination. Each step you take brings you one step closer to that place you desire.
So where do you start? What's a good business to start? How much will cost? Who can I trust to help me? Where can I find reliable information? What's a business model? What if I fail? What do I do first? Am I smart enough? Where do I find the time? So many questions.....
Yes, it does seem unmanageable at first, but if you break it down into bite sized pieces, you will find the process much easier, I didn't say easy, to manage. Let's start with concept #1. The business plan.
The first and most important thing you need is a "road map" with the directions of how you will get from point "A" to point "B". It will be this map that you will follow at all times while you are on your journey. And, it's how well you develop the details of your map as to how your journey will turn out. Bye-the-way, it's up to you have to figure out for yourself where you are going. What are you passionate enough and knowledgeable enough that consumers will pay you for. It's called market research. That's a whole other subject. One I will discuss later. I know, it does seem like I have the horse before the cart here, but I'm going to dedicate a whole blog to this later.
Now, some will argue that a formal business plan is essential to the future of your business. "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail" is the motto that drives this thinking. I know many highly successful business owners that did not formalize a business plan. However, they all had a "road map" of one sort or another. Without one, it would be like getting into your car and heading for a destination across country, having never been there, and expecting to drive straight to you destination. You might eventually arrive if you're given enough time and money for expenses, but the journey will be very difficult if not impossible.
So, the more detail your "road map" contains, the higher the probability that you will be successful. Let's look at things your "road map" or I prefer to call it a "Success Plan" or SP for short, should look like. First, it needs to be written down! this is essential. It has to have a very specific start and end date or you will be prone to procrastination. I call this rule, the "7P" rule. (piss poor planning produces piss poor performance".
Your SP must define exactly what the end result of your journey will look like eg. "I will have 5 profitable streams of income within 1 year beginning [date] and these income streams will be [define how you intend to produce multiple income streams ]. It will have detailed logical progression steps that must be achieved before the next step can be started until all steps have been accomplished.
Ahh Haaa... How can you develop a SP if you don't know where you want to go? Gotcha!
Now we can talk about how to do market research to figure out where you want to go. All righty then. This is your mission should except it, Start you SP right now either on paper or on your favorite form of word processing software and make it in an outline format with you goal at the very top. Number the steps 1, 2, 3 etc... and we will fill in the blanks as we go...
